Fallow Deer Hunting
Fallow Deer have been imported from Europe to the United States in several locations
around the country. They originally extended as far south as the Mediterranean and the
Middle East. The Fallow deer’s antlers are similar to moose antlers because they are
palmated or webbed. You may have seen a Fallow Deer at your local zoo; many of them
showcase these beautiful animals. Our Fallow deer are not handled by human hands,
unless a medical emergency requires us to. We let all our deer run and breed in the wild,
to guarantee a fair chase Fallow hunt.
Trophy Fallows for Hunt
The Fallow bucks generally weigh in over 200 pounds, and the does will weigh in at
about 120 pounds. The Fallow deer is a grazer, unlike Whitetail deer, which are browsers.
This makes their meat much more enjoyable, because of their consistent diet of green
grasses. They usually come in three basic colors: white, brown with white spots, and
chocolate, with chocolate being the rarest color. The Fallow bucks lose their antlers in
early spring and will be polished out again by the end of August. The bucks go into rut
around the end of September and get a slight discoloration around their chin, neck, and
chest due to the musk that is created during the rut period. The most desirable mounts are
usually taken before this musking and fighting takes place, which is in September or after
it is gone, around January. Bow hunting and muzzle loading are a great challenge with
these animals. We have a very mature herd of Fallow bucks on our ranch which enables
us to offer many trophy Fallows for your hunt.
Fallow Buck Hunts
Our Fallow buck hunts are generally a 3 day/ 2 night hunt which include meals, lodging,
